El Reino de Dios
El reino de Dios en Cristo no es un territorio, ni un programa, sino un dominio que abarca a la persona en su totalidad.
I. Biblical Background
Jesus announced the Kingdom as the reign of God breaking into the present age.
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
— Mark 1:15
The Kingdom is not primarily a place to be occupied or a political project to be managed. It is the active rule of God in Christ over those who belong to Him. It claims repentance, faith, obedience, and exclusive loyalty.
II. Typology and Marriage Motif
In the marriage motif, the Kingdom appears as the Bridegroom’s rightful rule over His Bride. He is both Husband and King. His authority is not distant or merely institutional; it is personal and total. The Bride does not negotiate the terms of His reign. She receives it as the expression of His love and His claim upon her.
III. Ante-Nicene Witness
The early Church confessed Christ’s present reign while refusing to reduce the Kingdom to any earthly empire or programme. They lived as citizens of a Kingdom that was already real and still awaited its final manifestation.
IV. Logical Syllogism
- 1. Major Premise: Scripture presents the Kingdom of God as the reign of God in Christ that demands repentance and exclusive loyalty (Mark 1:15; Colossians 1:13).
- 2. Minor Premise: Reducing the Kingdom to territory, institution, or human programme empties it of its personal and total claim.
- 3. Conclusion: Therefore, the Kingdom is rightly understood as the dominion of God in Christ that claims the whole person.
V. Pastoral Summary
When the Kingdom is treated as a project to be built by human power, the Church easily drifts into political entanglement or institutional pride. When it is received as the present reign of the Bridegroom over His people, the Church is freed to live under His authority with both confidence and humility, already transferred into His Kingdom and still waiting for its full revelation.
