The True Bride
The True Bride is the called-out and faithful people of God whom Christ has chosen, betrothed to, purified, and is preparing for Himself as His glorious Bride.
I. Biblical Background
From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture reveals God’s heart in seeking a Bride for His Son. The prophets spoke of Israel as betrothed to the Lord (Jeremiah 2:2), but Israel as a whole proved unfaithful. In the New Covenant, Christ forms a new people for Himself through His blood (Ephesians 5:25-27; Revelation 19:7).
“For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”

II. Typology
The Bride motif runs throughout Scripture as a typological pattern. The relationship between God and His people in the Old Covenant foreshadows the greater reality of Christ and His Bride in the New Covenant.
III. Ante-Nicene Witness
The early fathers consistently affirmed the Church as the Bride of Christ. They saw in the Song of Songs, the prophets, and the wisdom literature a divine pattern pointing to this eternal union.
IV. Logical Syllogism
- 1. Major Premise: Christ is the Bridegroom who lays down His life for a Bride (Ephesians 5:25).
- 2. Minor Premise: The Church is bought with His blood and betrothed to Him (Acts 20:28; Revelation 19:7).
- 3. Conclusion: Therefore, the Church is rightly called the True Bride.
V. Pastoral Summary
The Church is not merely an organization or institution. She is the beloved Bride of Christ, chosen, redeemed, and being prepared in holiness for the day of His appearing.
