“I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.”

Reflection
God did not create marriage as a convenient social arrangement that later happened to illustrate something about Christ. He designed it from the beginning so that we would have a living, visible picture of the relationship He desires with His people. The one-flesh union, the call to exclusive loyalty, the joy of presentation, and the horror of unfaithfulness all exist to keep our eyes fixed on the true Bridegroom.
When we treat the marriage motif as merely one helpful metaphor among many, we quietly lower the stakes. Exclusive devotion becomes optional. Divided loyalty becomes understandable. The Bride begins to tolerate other centers of identity, safety, and authority. But Scripture will not allow this softening. We have been betrothed to one Husband. The pure Bride has no room for rival claims.
Today the Spirit still calls us to the same simplicity: return to exclusive loyalty. Let every competing system, tradition, or personal identity be brought back under the single claim of the Bridegroom who loved us and gave Himself for us.

- Where have I allowed another identity, system, or source of security to share the place that belongs only to Jesus?
- What would exclusive loyalty to my Bridegroom look like in this area today?
- Am I willing to release every competing claim and return to Him alone?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are my one Husband. Forgive me for every divided loyalty. I renounce every rival claim on my heart and return to You alone. Keep me pure and faithful until the day of the Marriage Supper. Amen.
